Hi
This is a basic question, not a problem. The last version of CWIS was 4.1.1 back in 2018. Is development ongoing by the Scout team and the community? In particular, might there be future versions to cater for (inevitable) changes in PHP and MySQL.
I intend to put CWIS on a personal host to supplant my existing 'collection' of languages sites with a proper database-based catalogue, to save me coding one from scratch which would take many tens of hours.
Fred
Hi Fred -- thank you for the inquiry. Yes, there has been a lot of development going on since CWIS 4.1.1 was released, but it's been toward a new digital collection platform called Metavus.
Metavus builds on and is a successor to CWIS, offering similar capabilities and more, on a more maintainable, customizable, and extendable base. We are planning on releasing Metavus 1.0 in a few months, but if you would like to try a pre-release beta version, please drop me a note at ealmasy at scout.wisc.edu.
Thanks. That's great news :). I'll wait for the Metavus release version, and in the meantime see if I can get CWIS going on my host. Will there be portability from CWIS to Metavus?

Yes – we will be including support for migrating sites running recent versions of CWIS to Metavus, though custom interfaces or plugins may require some modification to be compatible.
